Welcome to Opal Essence All Natural Hand Made Beeswax and Vegan Lip Balms, home of natural lip care products. We are a solo operation out of the Atlanta area (though we started in the Boston area, we are relocating). We make all of our all natural lip balms by hand in small batches to keep inventory fresh. We make a wide variety of formulas in both regular and vegan, with and without SPF protection.
Katherine Howard, the owner and artisan of Opalessenceshop.com, died in March 2013. The business will not be continued, but we will sell all remaining stock on hand. Obviously, no custom lip balms will be made. When all products have been sold, the web site will be taken down.

Spring Is Coming!
With Spring almost here the warmer temperatures will mean more outdoor activities, which means the potential for wind, sun, and other of nature's elements to affect your skin and lips. Meanwhile, running a heater/furnace in your home during the colder days and nights dries out the air and could cause chapping and cracking of the lips. Make sure to take care of yours by using a healthy, all natural lip balm. Beware of some commercial lip balms, which frequently include harmful ingredients like petroleum jelly (aka "petrolatum" or "Vaseline") or preservatives. "Petroleum jelly is a byproduct of oil drilling, and when you spread it on your lips, you end up eating it, which is essentially the same as drinking gasoline. [...] The European Union has banned many petroleum jelly products, and experts are concerned they could be linked to cancer." — the Dr. Oz Show.
Important news: Effective immediately, we will no longer use Palm Kernel Oil in any of our lip balms due to its devastating environmental impact. We will sell the remaining stock we have of lip balms containing this ingredient, but will replace it in our recipes for future batches of lip balm.
